Philosophy of Education

I believe that the type of philosophy I hold is the progressivism, where I would let the students interact with everything that I teach such as group activities; or playing games and going on field trips. I feel that that is the best way to learn to have hands on experiences in education. It develops the mind of the students to have a creative outlook on what they are learning and not dreading it. This fits me because I love working with young children and I know that I would have a great time with having lab experiments with the children and see how much it opens their mind to a lot more and teaches them by seeing what is happening right before their eyes. My philosophy shapes me as a teacher best by giving these children opportunities and experiences with having them observe life out there like for example, by going on field trips to the a farm to learn about the crops that are grown in Georgia or going to a park of animals for a biology project and for them to see the natural world. School should have more opportunities for students to have hands on activities and school should be not so strict and have more extracurricular activities for the students to get involved in. my beliefs in teaching diverse students in the classroom is that everyone is different and I would not have my favorites in the class I would treat every child in my class equal. I will reach diverse students in a professional way by meeting their needs as well as others in the classroom and have a good understanding about their diversity whatever it may be. My legal responsibility as a teacher is to never cross the line with a student or parent by giving my own opinion of something that may be offensive to either the student or the parent. My professional responsibility as a teacher is to dress appropriately in the school, don’t gossip about anything in the teachers lounge because some things can get back to a co-worker or a parent of a student and could cause serious problems. My core values are honesty, love, God, Work, and family. My values influence my beliefs in good teaching and schooling in public schools by showing that I care for my students and love them being there, and are honest with myself and the parents and staff at the school and honest to my students. I want to teach because my mom influenced me to be a teacher for young children because she has had her own home daycare since before I was born and I was just so used to having little children around me and my heart is just warmed to see them smile and being happy to learn new things, also because I think that teaching kindergarten is one of my strong points because I love working with young children and I work well with them because sometimes I feel like I’m a kid again when Im around them and it helps me enjoy teaching them. Another reason why I want to teach is because I want to have a good standing career and I believe that teaching is a good career to have and accomplish for years and have a great reputation as a teacher and have young children look up to me as their role model. Teaching is just my dream and I definitely want to fulfill that dream. I have plenty of experience working with children, I took early childhood education in high school, I have the experience from my mom’s daycare, and I also worked at the YMCA as a day camp councilor over the summer. I want to teach so that I can give my students better opportunities in life that I may of never had.
